On 04 August 2015, we had the grand honour to host Butet Manurung, a pioneer for alternative education for indigenous people in isolated and remote areas in Indonesia. She initiated the first pilot school in Orang Rimba society (or Suku Kubu), a tribe who live in Bukit Dua Belas National Park, Jambi, Sumatra
The night before we screened the Sokola Rimba for the children. The kids enjoyed a lot and asked many questions from Butet related to Suku Kubu tribe and how she established a school in the jungle.
It was a great opportunity for our students and teachers to get inspiration from a prominent Indonesian personality, like Butut Manurung. We really thank Butet for visiting to our learning centre.
