Protesting against the indiscriminate killing of Hazaras in Afghanistan
Please join us to protest against the indiscriminate killing of Hazaras in Afghanistan. Tuesday 11 October. On the stairs of the State Parliament at 3:30 PM.
Many of you know that most of the students at the Cisarua Refugee Learning Centre and other centres we support are Hazara from Afghanistan. They have escaped the barbaric Taliban and we are proud to support them as they claim their human right to education. We are especially proud that a majority of our leaders and teachers are women!
The situation in Afghanistan is continuing to disintegrate.
On Friday, 30 Sep. 2022, a suicide blast killed more than 60 young Hazara women students in their classroom at Kaaj Tuition Centre. The Taliban have imposed unprecedented restrictions for women and other minorities. Systematic killings, displacements, attacks on educational centres have significantly increased since they overrun Kabul last year.
Attacking the Kaaj Tuition Centre was a carefully chosen target, with the aim to create panic, to discourage girls’ education, and to demoralise the broader Hazara community. The Hazara community has responded with protests worldwide on twitter #stophazaragenocide, and in major cities including Australia. The Hazara comunity in Adelaide invite you to join them in protesting this barbaric regime and their indiscriminate killings on Tuesday 11 October. On the stairs of the State Parliament at 3:30 PM.
We consider this attack against education, youth, women, and their right to get education. Cisarua Learning invites refugee advocates, artists, teachers, politicians, academia and media to share their empathy for the Hazara community, and their solidarity with the women of Afghanistan whose right to education is being targeted.
