General Education Diploma (GED) and Conversation Classes

One of the complications at the CRLC and other refugee-led schools, is the difficulty of obtaining accredited education diplomas. Following the experience of one of the CRLC students, Khadim Dai, we discovered that the American-based GED program is available worldwide and provides an accredited diploma for University entry. With the support of Australia teachers online, we have started, and are expanding, a GED program. The conversation classes are less formal online classes where Australians and Refugees get to spend time together. In 2021, we are running 12 GED classes, 18 conversation classes and 1 reading and comprehension classes every week.

In Term 2 we will start a mathematics stream and we have big hopes for this program. It will give the refugees an official internationally recognised formal accreditation.
